MAKAR SANKRANTI – POUSH PARVAN: Makar Sankranti marks the transition of the SUN into the Zodian sign of makar Rashi (Capricorn) on its celestial path. It is a major harvest festival  which is also celebrated in various parts of India and nearby countries. Religiously, it is said as the “holy phase of transition”. It is also believed that Sun ends its Southern journey (Dakkhinayan) at the tropic of Capricorn and starts moving Northern (Uttarayan) towards the tropic of Cancer in the month of Paush which is mid January.
